Man, Medicine and Machines – Problem or Partnership?

“Technology revolutions always take longer than predicted,
but arrive faster than anticipated.”

~ Michael S. Malone

Last year at ForeChange, Google’s Director of Engineering and
renowned futurist, Ray Kurzweil, captured our imagination
with his description and prediction of where healthcare is
headed. A tsunami of new drugs and therapies, 3-D printing
of organs for transplantation, rapidly extending life spans –
It’s all just around the corner, he said matter-of-factly.

This trajectory of change is now well understood, with
many examples replicating Moore’s Law of how
computational power soars as costs plummet. As we
anticipate the future, our mind’s tend to think linearly,
but those who extrapolate into the future see a path that
is not linear, but is instead exponential.

This year at ForeChange we are going to look more specifically
at how technology is rapidly mimicking human endeavors by
exploring the implications of accelerated advances in robotics,
artificial intelligence, voice and pattern recognition, virtual
reality and machine learning. Specific areas of consideration
are standardization of clinical practices and decision making,
the healthcare supply chain, pharmaceutical distribution,
medical devices and emerging competitive business models.

Join us this year as we meet the future together
at the Broadmoor.
